Lucy Movie Review

First, you’ve seen this movie before, or at least the male version of it. It’s the movie ‘Limitless’ starring Bradley Cooper. For this one, Scarlett Johanson takes center stage.

You get the picture: a drug is created meant to enhance brain power and the protagonist took it and it goes on. Lucy, encountered the drug completely by mistake. She was doing a favor for her boyfriend and she ended up being a drug mule with the drug surgically inserted into her stomach. The drug ended up leaking into her system then there you go. She can now access the ‘unexplored’ areas of the brain giving her some kind of a superpower.

I cannot begin to explain how silly this movie was done. Okay, maybe our brain’s not to be underestimated specially on the things that it can do, but she became a more powerful Black Widow from her Marvel stint. It started as revenge for what was done to her and she ended up wanting some more of the drug, then became the most powerful USB device ever.

Morgan Freeman is here too. He’s the professor who specializes on what Lucy is becoming to be. It is very nice to get a lecture from him, as always.

The direction of Luc Besson may freak people out. If you’re thinking this is an action/sci fi movie, you’ll find it weird on how Beeson narrated the story. I think he’s trying to make it an art film, somehow.

Truthfully, the movie is a visual spectacle. There were graphics that were shown that represents a scene and it can take you to places. Scarlett Johanson carried the movie in such grace and in an absolute kick-ass fashion.

Overall, Lucy is 100% silly but 100% entertaining, thank goodness.

Grade: 6/10
